Slips & Falls

New Jersey Slip and Fall Accident Lawyers

If a property owner created unsafe conditions or failed to address a known danger, you may have grounds for a premises liability lawsuit if the hazard led to a slip and fall accident or other serious injury. Lombardi and Lombardi P.A. has handled countless injury claims in over 30 years of service to Central New Jersey.

These cases can be tough to prove, and not every slip and fall accident meets the criteria for recovery of damages. You need representation by a firm that has handled thousands of these cases. Contact our offices in Edison, Brick or Freehold for a free case evaluation by calling toll-free at 800-425-3861.

Did the Owner Have Notice of the Danger?

The key question under New Jersey law is whether a property owner (a) knew of the hazardous condition or (b) should have known of the danger through routine maintenance and inspection. If the owner failed to fix a problem after receiving notice, or created a safety issue through negligence, they can be liable for medical expenses, lost wages and personal damages.

Our attorneys have successfully sued grocery stores, supermarkets, malls, retail stores, apartment building owners, and other establishments for slip and fall accidents or similar injuries resulting from:

  • Spilled substances
  • Mopped floors without warning signs
  • Accumulations of snow or ice
  • Protruding displays or falling merchandise
  • Broken stairs or railings
  • Escalator accidents (abrupt stop, collapsing steps)

Our investigators work to locate witnesses who saw the slip and fall, noticed the dangerous condition, or perhaps even reported it to the premises owner. We obtain maintenance records from the store and research building code violations or similar injury claims against the owner for past negligence.

Can I Sue a Municipal Entity?

Under Title 59 of the New Jersey Statutes, an accident victim cannot sue a city, township or other entity unless suffering a permanently disabling injury. A trip or slip resulting in a cracked skull or traumatic brain injury, or permanent spinal injury, might qualify.

Let us determine if you or your loved one has a viable case. Lombardi and Lombardi has obtained more than $250 million in settlements and verdicts for New Jersey clients since 1975. We offer a free initial consultation, and we take slip and fall cases on a contingency fee.
