Barnegat Man Killed in Fatal Car Crash on Garden State Parkway in Lakewood, NJ

A Barnegat NJ man was tragically killed in a single-vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway (GSP) in Lakewood, New Jersey.
The fatal highway accident occurred a short time after noon last Thursday. The victim, a 26-year-old man from Barnegat, NJ, was driving a silver 2008 Honda Civic northbound on the GSP when he approached mile marker 88.3, near the border separating Lakewood from Toms River. According to authorities, the motorist suddenly lost control of his car and left the highway. The vehicle reportedly skidded off the right side of the GSP and ultimately came to a stop when it crashed into a tree.
Other motorists dialed 911 to alert law enforcement. New Jersey State Police dispatched troopers and emergency medical responders to the scene of the accident. Tragically, by the time emergency crews got to the area, it was too late to save the victim. Medical officials pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the car crash.
No one else was inside the motor vehicle at the time of the accident and nobody else was injured as a result of the car crash.
NJ State Police is currently investigating the auto accident and trying to determine exactly what might have caused the crash. At this time, investigators have not yet determined why the vehicle left the highway.
The reality is that single-vehicle accidents are not always caused by driver error. Sometimes, the car accident is a result of a defective auto part. If the fatal auto accident on the Garden State Parkway is found to have been caused by a defective part, the family members of the victim may be able to file a product liability lawsuit against the auto manufacturer.
It is also possible that another motorist on the GSP may have acted negligently and caused the car crash victim to suddenly swerve. In the event that someone else was responsible for the fatal crash, the family members of the victim could potentially file a wrongful death claim and seek damages in civil court.
