Toms River NJ Man Previously Convicted of Arson Once Again Accused of Deliberately Starting Fire

A convicted arsonist has been accused of setting fire to yet another residence located in Toms River, New Jersey.
The earlier arson incident also occurred in Toms River NJ, with the 26-year-old suspect previously being convicted of aggravated arson in September 2011. In that case, the suspect also pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to a term of incarceration of four years in New Jersey State Prison.
This time around, the suspect allegedly started a fire at a home located on Camino Roble Drive in Toms River, NJ. The person who lives in the house woke up around 12:30 a.m. and saw smoke coming from the front of the home. He took a closer look and noticed flames coming from under the door. The resident subsequently grabbed a fire extinguisher to stop the blaze, but he then noticed yet another fire coming from the back of the home. Thankfully, the man was able to use the fire extinguisher once against to douse the flames and stop the blaze from spreading and doing even more damage or, worse yet, harming anyone.
The resident dialed 911 to alert the Toms River Police Department, which dispatched police officers and firefighters to the scene. A Toms River NJ cop smelled the odor of an accelerant coming from the vinyl siding on the house and quickly deduced that the fires might have been set on purpose.
Arson detectives with the Toms River Police Department conducted an investigation into the fire and eventually determined that the suspect deliberately started the blaze.
The suspect once again faces aggravated arson charges. Given his prior record, he could be subject to extremely severe penalties that include a lengthy prison sentence if he is ultimately convicted.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility on a $75K bail amount.
