Fiat Chrysler Recalls Cars due to Wiring Problems

Fiat Chrysler recently announced that the auto manufacturer will be recalling more than 400,000 motor vehicles in the United States and elsewhere in the world due to a safety feature that can cause serious auto accidents.
The safety problem was initially detected by vehicle consumers, with many consumers sending in warranty claims after realizing that their cars were traveling very slowly on the roadway. When Fiat Chrysler investigated the warranty claims and took a closer look at the vehicles, safety inspectors discovered that wires inside the cars were not properly folded. According to Fiat Chrysler, this can cause the vehicle engines to shift into “limited power” mode and travel at a low rate of speed – regardless of the drivers’ actions.
Last Friday, the auto company tried to sneak in the product recall announcement just before the weekend. Fiat Chrysler said that it will be recalling 410,000 cars. Several different models are affected by the auto recall, including Cherokee SUV, Chrysler 200 sedans, Jeep Renegade, and Ram ProMaster City vans.
At this time, Fiat Chrysler officials believe that the auto defect is only present in cars manufactured prior to September 23, 2014. As a result, newer model vehicles are not affected by the massive recall.
Fiat Chrysler made sure to state in its announcement that the company is unaware of any car crashes or accident-related injuries being caused by the defective wiring.
Anyone who is currently driving one of the recalled vehicles should contact their local automotive dealer and arrange for repairs. Car dealers are expected to update the software in the recalled cars and replace the vehicle wiring.
