NJ Motorcyclist Crashes inside Lincoln Tunnel, Suffers Critical Injuries

A serious motorcycle crash inside the Lincoln Tunnel resulted in significant injuries to an Englewood NJ resident.
The single-vehicle accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. It is believed by law enforcement that the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and crashed on the NJ side of the Lincoln Tunnel.
The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man from Englewood NJ, sustained severe injuries in the bike crash. After the motorcycle accident, he was taken to Jersey City Medical Center. Doctors at the Jersey City hospital later listed the victim in critical condition.
The accident caused authorities to close the center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel while workers attempted to clear the debris. The Lincoln Tunnel’s center tube was reopened after approximately three hours.
According to early reports, the injured motorcyclist did not have a New Jersey driver’s license. This could have major implications for any criminal charges that are filed against the rider. (He has already been cited for a traffic violation for driving with a suspended license.)
Beyond that, the fact that the injured motorcyclist may not have been licensed to drive a motorcycle in NJ could affect any potential personal injury lawsuit. Depending on the circumstances leading up to the crash, it is possible that the injured biker could sue the manufacturer of the motorcycle to recover damages for his injuries and medical bills.
This is the second serious motorcycle accident at the Lincoln Tunnel in the past six weeks. On July 27, a Brooklyn NY woman died when the motorcycle she was riding on crashed inside the tunnel. The Bronx NJ man reportedly operating the bike at the time of the accident was later charged with death by auto.
