About Union, NJ

Union is a township located in Union County, New Jersey. The area of present-day Union was called Connecticut Farms during the 18th century. Originally settled by European colonists in 1667, Union was the third English-speaking settlement in New Jersey after Elizabeth and Newark. During the Revolutionary War, Union was the site of the Battle of Connecticut Farms. Union was officially incorporated by the New Jersey Legislature in 1808 from portions of Elizabeth Township, which the community was still part of Essex County. Union became part of the newly-formed Union County of 1857. A largely residential community, Union is today home to Kean University.

Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in Union, NJ

FAQ: When should I speak to a personal injury attorney about my case?

You should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible after your accident or injury. You may need to move quickly to secure evidence that may be critical to your claim, and you may have a limited period of time in which to assert important rights to the compensation you need and deserve. Our attorneys will hit the ground running in your case to thoroughly investigate your claim, identify the possible at-fault parties, and begin negotiating to get you a full financial recovery.

FAQ: The other party is claiming that I was partially at fault for the accident. Can I still recover compensation?

Possibly. In New Jersey, comparative negligence laws allow an injured party to recover compensation even if he or she was partially at fault for his or her own injuries, provided he or she is not more at fault than the other at-fault parties. However, his or her compensation will be reduced by his or her share of fault. For example, if you are found to be 20 percent at fault for your accident and injuries and suffered $100,000 in damages, your compensation will be reduced by $20,000 to account for your share of fault.
