About Bridgewater, NJ
Bridgewater is a township located in Somerset County, New Jersey. Bridgewater was originally created in 1749 by royal charter, and was incorporated by the New Jersey Legislature in 1798. Bridgewater was named for the town of Bridgewater located in the county of Somerset in England. Tradition states that Bridgewater was the site where the first official flag of the United States was displayed. Although largely a farming community until the 1960s, Bridgewater redeveloped into a suburban community when residents of more densely populated communities such as Newark began migrating outwards. Today, Bridgewater is Somerset County’s second-most populated municipality after Franklin Township.
Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in Bridgewater, NJ
Most personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis. This means that an injured party does not owe the attorney anything unless and until the attorney recovers compensation through settlement or verdict. The attorney will also typically cover all the expenses of the case, including investigation, expert witnesses, and court filing fees. If the attorney successfully secures compensation, the attorney’s legal fee (usually a percentage of the total recovery) and reimbursement for expenses will be deducted from the client’s recovery.
It can be difficult to determine the length of time of any personal injury case. If liability in your personal injury claim is not being contested by the other party and your damages are easily calculated, it can be possible to resolve your claim within a few months. If the other party contests liability, or if there is a dispute over the amount of your damages (for example, if you are expected to require long-term treatment or care or if you are expected to remain disabled from work) it can take longer to resolve your claim. If you need to go to court to pursue your personal injury case, the length of your case can largely depend on the schedule of the court. Many personal injury cases take several years from the filing of the complaint through trial.
